For our first ever safari, we couldn't have chosen a better place to explore the wonders of the Masai Mara. The camp, with all the amenities (and more) you could have wished for, is located right on the edge of the plains with uninterrupted views of, and access to, the animals (perhaps a little unnerving when enjoying a candle-light dinner outside your tent not knowing what might be lurking in the nearby bushes!) I loved my time at Saruni Mara, I truly did - but Saruni Wild is next level. Tented accommodation - but let's face it, there's nothing really 'tenty' about it - Saruni Wild is exactly that. Wild and right in the middle of the wilderness. Night one saw me literally throw my sundowner in the air as the near-by lions (I was told they were over a kilometre away, they sounded much much closer than that) started calling. We had an amazing three nights in the family tent and were so well looked after by William and his team. The tents are fun, especially the bucket shower experience, and right in the middle of the action. We had long early morning and early evening drives with breakfast in the bush and delicious lunches and dinner in the camp. Tinka our guide was brilliant and had us close up with lions and cheetahs as well as seeing elephants and giraffes and zebras and all the rest. We also liked the nearby whi... Being able to drive off track in the conservancy was a rare privilege.
